House with Vaults

Project type

Architecture

Date

June 2022

Location

Murbad, Maharashtra

This extraordinary house seamlessly blends innovative design concepts with elements of nature, creating a harmonious and sustainable living space.
The house is characterized by its majestic vaults, adding a sense of grandeur and timelessness. These vaulted ceiling roofs not only enhance the aesthetics but also serve a practical purpose as rainwater harvesting roofs. The slopes of the vaults guide rainwater towards centrally placed gutters, ensuring efficient collection and utilization of this valuable resource which also makes the gutters as an aesthetic element.
As you enter the house, you'll be greeted by a central double-height space with an internal courtyard. This vibrant, light-filled area serves as the heart of the home, connecting different sections and creating a sense of unity.
However, what truly sets this house apart is the incorporation of nature seamlessly integrated into the central space. Standing tall and proud, this living element brings the beauty of nature indoors, providing a serene and calming environment. The tree acts as a visual focal point and a natural air purifier, enhancing the overall well-being of the inhabitants.
Designed with climatology in mind, this house showcases a perfect blend of form and function. The strategic positioning of windows and skylights allows for optimal cross ventilation, ensuring a constant flow of fresh air throughout the house. Natural shading elements, such as trellises and overhangs, protect the interiors from excessive heat during the warmer months, while still allowing for ample natural light.
The connecting bridge, spanning the double-height space, adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the architectural composition. It serves as a passage between different areas of the house, inviting exploration and fostering a sense of connectivity.
